How to contact UK Visas and Immigration from outside the UK
Gecontroleerd met een testgesprek op 13 oktober 2026Bijgewerkt op 19 oktober 2026
If you are outside the UK and your question is about a visa application to come to the UK, UK Visas and Immigration publishes one phone number for you: +44 (0)300 790 6268, option 1. The call costs 69p a minute on top of what your own network charges, the English-language line is open Monday to Friday around the clock, and there is a second number for callers whose provider will not connect UK 0300 numbers. We called both on 13 October 2026: each connected straight away to the same recording and menu, where option 1 is for applications made from outside the UK.

Which line to use
The number above is the contact UKVI gives to people outside the UK who are asking about applying for a visa to come to the UK. Select option 1 when the recording starts.
If you cannot dial UK 0300 numbers from where you are, UKVI publishes +44 (0)203 875 4669 as an alternative to the same service.
UKVI splits its contacts by subject, and questions about its other services are routed to different teams. If yours is not about a visa application made from outside the UK, start from the UKVI contact pages on GOV.UK and follow the questions to the right contact rather than calling this line and being passed on.
What each route costs
The phone line costs 69 pence per minute on top of your standard network charges. That charge is UKVI's own and it applies however you place the call, so the total is 69p a minute plus whatever reaching a UK number costs you.
There is also a paid email route, through UKVI's online form. A query costs £2.74 and you are not charged for follow-up emails about the same enquiry. You get a reply within 5 days, except on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and UK public holidays.
That makes email the cheaper route for anything that is not urgent, and the phone worth it when you need an answer the same day. Either way, write your question out first - at 69p a minute, thinking on the line is expensive.
Lines in other languages
The English-language line runs Monday to Friday, 24 hours, and closes on UK bank holidays. Other languages are on the same number with their own hours, published in UK local time.
- Arabic: Sunday to Thursday, 5am to 1pm UK local time.
- Cantonese: Monday to Friday, 1am to 9am UK local time.
- French: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK local time.
- Hindi: Monday to Friday, 4am to midday UK local time.
- Mandarin: Monday to Friday, 1am to 9am UK local time.
- Russian: Monday to Friday, 6am to 2pm UK local time.
- Spanish: Monday to Friday, 1pm to 1am UK local time.

How to dial the number
GOV.UK writes the number as +44 (0)300 790 6268. The zero in brackets is the one you drop when you dial from outside the UK; everything else stays as it is.
- 1Have your application details in front of you - the paperwork, the dates and any reference you were given when you applied.
- 2Start with a plus sign, or your country's exit code if the plus will not work: 00 across most of Europe, 011 from the US and Canada.
- 3Add 44 for the United Kingdom, then the rest of the number without its leading zero: +44 300 790 6268.
- 4Select option 1, and keep an eye on the clock - the line is charged by the minute.
Calling from a browser
On a roaming SIM, the 69p a minute for the line comes on top of whatever your own network charges you for the call. Browzerphone dials the same +44 number from a browser tab, charged per minute, with no SIM card and nothing installed.
On a laptop you can keep your application open next to the call and take notes while you wait. Check the per-minute rate to the United Kingdom first, so you know both halves of what the call will cost.

Which option do I press?
On our call on 13 October 2026, option 1 was for applications made from outside the UK. It led to a second menu: 1 for a nationality application, 2 for a Ukraine application, 3 for anything else. Other options in the first menu: 0 for the UK and European Applicant Transfer Scheme, 2 for applications from inside the UK, 3 for technical support, 4 for share codes and immigration status, 5 for employers and landlords, and # for eVisas.

No. The 69 pence per minute is UKVI's charge for the line and you pay it however you call. What changes is the rest: instead of a roaming bill you pay a per-minute rate to the United Kingdom, which you can check before you dial.

No SIM card and no roaming. Check the rate to the United Kingdom, sign up and call.
