Chase international phone number: calling Chase from abroad

Chase's US customer service numbers start with 1-800, such as 1-800-935-9935 for personal banking and 1-800-432-3117 for cards. For customers outside the U.S., Chase gives regular numbers instead.

On its personal banking contact page Chase lists 1-713-262-3300 for callers outside the U.S. and notes that automated service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Chase's business help page lists the same number for business customers outside the United States.

For credit cards, Chase's general customer service page lists only the US number 1-800-432-3117. The Cardmember Services box on the World of Hyatt card page gives 1-800-436-7941 for the U.S. and Canada and 1-302-594-8200 for callers outside the U.S. and Canada; for any other card, use the number on the back of the card.

In our test call there was no menu. After a note that the call is recorded and that your voice may be used for verification, Chase Customer Service said that a specialist would assist us in approximately one minute.

A person answered after about 44 seconds. We hung up without saying anything and deleted the recording of the call; nothing said after the answer is quoted here.

The card line answered as Chase Card Services and asked for the full 16-digit credit card account number; press star if you need more time. When we entered nothing, it repeated the request twice and then asked for a 9-digit Social Security number. We hung up there, after 90 seconds, without reaching a person.

Have your card and your account details at hand before you call: the system identifies you before anything else.

Chase's customer service page lists separate US numbers for auto loans, home lending and J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, and for military personnel and veterans 1-877-469-0110 in the US and 1-318-340-3308 overseas.

Chase also publishes lines for reporting fraud and lost or stolen cards. We did not call them and do not list them here; use the number on the back of your card or the security page on chase.com.

Browzerphone dials +1 numbers from a browser tab, with no SIM card and nothing to install, and shows the price per minute before you call; the rates page lists it for the United States. Our test calls went out through Browzerphone's US phone provider from a US (+1) number. The keypad for entering your card number is in the same tab.

Without credit, Browzerphone only allows a free trial call, and it ends after one minute. In our test a person answered the banking line after about 44 seconds, so a trial call leaves little time; top up first if you need to talk your matter through.
