How to call Nationwide from abroad

From abroad, call Nationwide on +44 1793 65 67 89, the "Abroad" number it gives for telephone banking and for general enquiries about current accounts. Our test call from Poland on 20 October 2026 went through to an automated system with a keypad menu: 1 for current accounts, internet banking and credit cards, 2 for savings, 3 for personal loans, 4 for mortgages and 5 for insurance. When we pressed nothing, it asked us to say the reason for the call and then said it would need to identify us.

Which Nationwide number to call from abroad
Nationwide prints +44 1793 65 67 89 as the "Abroad" number on several of its pages. On its telephone banking page it is the number for automated telephone banking, open 24 hours, 7 days a week; the UK number is 03457 30 20 11. On its current account help page it is the number for general enquiries about current accounts (except FlexDirect and FlexPlus) and for FlexDirect, Monday to Saturday 8am to 8pm, Sundays 9am to 5pm and bank holidays 8am to 8pm.
On its living and working abroad page, Nationwide gives the same number for updating your tax declaration over the phone. Nationwide also lists the same number for reporting a lost or stolen card if you are not registered for online banking.
FlexPlus customers have their own number from abroad, +44 1793 54 12 00. For a replacement of a damaged credit card, Nationwide lists +44 2476 43 89 97 from abroad. We did not call these two numbers.

Telephone banking and managing your account from abroad
Nationwide says that to use automated telephone banking you register first, by phone or in a branch, and it then posts you a telephone banking passnumber. To use it you need that passnumber and one of these: customer number, account number or 16-digit debit card number. Nationwide says it only asks for specific digits of your passnumber and never for the entire passnumber.
According to Nationwide, telephone banking lets you hear your balance and your last six transactions, make internal transfers to Nationwide current accounts held in your name, request a PIN reminder for card-based accounts and change your telephone banking passnumber.
On its living and working abroad page Nationwide says the app can only be downloaded from the UK app stores, so you need to download and register it before you leave, and that one time passcodes can only be sent to UK telephone numbers.
Call Nationwide from your browser
Browzerphone dials +44 numbers from a browser tab, with no SIM card and nothing to install, and charges per minute at a published rate that you can check before you call. The keys 1 to 5 for the Nationwide menu are on the keypad in the tab, and you can answer its spoken questions through your computer's microphone.
