Inside Ireland the main line is 056 444 4444; Vhi uses it, for example, for group scheme and quote enquiries. Vhi also gives [email protected] as its email address.
- 1Dial +353 56 444 4444. If your phone cannot enter +, use the international exit code of the country you are in, for example 00.
- 2Listen past the notices: call recording, a request to tell the agent if you need extra support, the Central Bank of Ireland notice and 0 for underwriter and data protection details. The real menu starts about 40 seconds in.
- 3Press 1 for your current health insurance policy, including payments, claims or checking your cover, 2 to renew or buy a policy, or 3 for travel or international cover; our recording ended during that last option. We pressed nothing, so we cannot say how long the queue is.

Vhi describes Assist as a worldwide medical emergency service. It says you can contact the Assistance Worldwide Help Centre at any hour to verify your cover and confirm payment in case of sickness or accident. The Help Centre's email is [email protected].

When the main line is open
Vhi gives the hours of +353 56 444 4444 without a time zone; they are Irish times. Ireland is one hour behind Poland, Germany, France and Spain all year round, so the line is open from 9:00 to 20:00 on weekdays and 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday in those countries. It is closed on Sunday.
Vhi's offices in Dublin (Vhi House, Lower Abbey Street) and Kilkenny are open Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 17:00.
